A traditional Chinese dessert of glutinous rice balls (tang yuan) filled with sweet black sesame paste in a fragrant sweet osmanthus and ginger soup.

The ingredients needed to make Dessert- Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball:
  1. Make ready 2 Pandan leave (cut into 3 pieces each)
  2. Get Brown Rock sugar (based on your sweetness)
  3. Make ready 3-4 slices Ginger (1cm thickness each,skin-off, pound alittle)
  4. Get Fine Peanuts (pre-pack)
  5. Prepare Glutinous Rice ball (pre-pack, your preferred favour)
  6. Take 500 ml - 600mlwater

Glutinous rice balls or tang yuan (meaning round balls in soup) is a Chinese dessert prepared with glutinous rice flour and water mixture. They can be small or large in size and filled or unfilled, savoury or sweet and are served in a clear soup broth or sweet gingery syrup. Sweet tang yuan can also be served in a sugary syrup or soup. When we were children, we adored zeen doy (sesame balls).

Instructions to make Dessert- Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball:
  1. Boil water in pot, add in pandan leave and ginger (5- 8min) add in brown sugar (8min)
  2. Add in glutinous rice ball (5-8min) stir it inbetween so it will not stuck at the pot (ready to served) with peanut at the side
  3. You may served with the soup or had it with fine peanuts.

Sweet tang yuan can also be served in a sugary syrup or soup. When we were children, we adored zeen doy (sesame balls). The dough is fried until golden brown so it is both crisp and chewy from the glutinous rice flour. It is eaten year-round, but especially. The hint of ginger flavor is infused into the light syrup.
